Proposed Dog Run Redesign
about the project
City Council District 8 has allocated ~$1.3 million to renovate and redesign Tom’s Dog Run, with current proposed plans including a separated small dog run, dog-friendly artificial turf, water fountains, and other improvements to fencing and benches at the run. However, it also involves shrinking the existing size of the main dog run. You can view the proposed design here and NYC Parks’ presentation here.
As of June 2026, the redesign has not yet been approved by Community Board 11 (CB11) due to community concerns with the proposed design and the construction process shared with CB11 and NYC Parks throughout the public feedback process.
If you would also like to share your own feedback on these plans with Tom’s Dog Run leadership and with CB11, please complete this survey! Your response will be shared directly with CB11 and NYC Parks and help ensure our community and our dogs get the best community space possible.
